Tardies, tardies and more tardies...
My seniors have straight up lost their minds. As it gets warmer they lose all the knowledge that they have worked almost 13 years to gain! This week is our spirit week for prom on Saturday, so we are all dressed up in the daily theme. I know that it is difficult to wear something else than your used too but for the love of everything that is good in the world... why do our students think it's ok to come to class 5, 10, 15 or more minutes late! It' driving me out of my mind! Is it so distracting and rude for the other students that got here on time. I am trying to keep it together but by the end of the day... I am frazzled and annoyed! If I can come to school on time with two kids, working a full time job and working on my Masters at night... why can't they get their asses out of bed and to my class on time? Any thoughts? Am I the only one...

WOW...What a busy week...
Just like all of us... I had such a busy week... filled with ups and downs and piles of work. This week my government classes had a taste of what it would be like to run for president. I put them in teams of 4 and gave every member of the team a title and a responsibility. I also added that they had had to add many technological elements in their campaign. I was surprised with their work. They really did an amazing job and I am proud at what they did. Some students used social media to get support for their campaigns, others made videos of their candidate, and others integrated music and pictures into their presentations. When I do projects like this it reminds me of why I became a teacher. I got to sit back and see what my students could do after I taught them the subject.
Have a great week... Mel

xtranormal: check it out!
This week I am having my freshmen studies class finish their intervention scripts to create plays on xtranormal.com. If you have not used it yet you really should, your students will love writing stories, creating characters and watching their ideas come to life. You can really choose any topic, and you will be surprised at how many students will want to complete this assignment. I was shocked myself. Give it a look and let me know what you think and if you used it before tell me what you think of it. Enjoy, Mel

Back in Action
I am back in the classroom this week from Spring Break... and boy are my studnets not feel'n anything. My 12th graders are just on off mode. I need to figure out ways to turn the switch back to ON and keep it there until June. Maybe they need more trips to the library computer lab to complete a project.
I feel that when I see my studnets and they are just lost in space it makes my job that much harder. I start cracking jokes, telling stories... I do anything to keep them on task these days. Sometimes I feel like I have to be more of an enterianer than a teacher... Anyone in that some position? Any thoughts?
