More Spring Break Fun!

These are all taken at the Springs Preserve in Las Vegas Nevada. My husband and kids like visiting this place often. It makes me think that I don't live in a desert.

Having fun on Spring Break!

I'm taking break from technology and finding ways to enjoy time with my kids.

Having fun with 2.0 tools.

I've never thought that I would have so much fun playing with tools! I like that fact that I am learning new things to use in my classroom. I have been playing with Google Docs this week and making lessons that teach students how important working collaboratively is while learning the subject matter. I have discovered that students embrace a chance to work with something new and are interested and motivated in completing lessons that use 2.0 tools.

Review Idea using tech

I was just thinking of a way that reviewing for a test could be so much easier. And I think I found something. When I was just looking for some cool pod cast lesson I found this website http://www.masterymaze.com./category/podcast/mastery-cast The idea I got from it was that I could make short review pod casts for my student’s to hear so that would help them score higher on tests. I could just post each review to my ccsd.net page. I am so glad I found that and got that idea. I will keep you posted and tell you how it works in another post. Enjoy

Cool Pod Cast Resource

Call all US History teachers... you will enjoy this pod cast I found on YouTube. It explores how the Great Depression and WWII are linked. What I like is it's animated and the instructor does not overwhelm her students with information that is not needed. If you have time check it out... I'm going to link it so my students can view it to help them review for their upcoming test on WWII. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=haBdxl8dXsU Enjoy, Mel

Love technology!?!

Hello all... I had this great idea for my US History class. I was going to have them create a PowerPoint using this WWII HTML I made for them. Oh boy, was that just a pain! In Nevada, we have to use this my.ccsd.net site to post assignments, homework and comments. The site is very basic and not really that great. So, I went to post the WWII web quest, I made on the website and it would not upload. So after begging for help from our librarian and computer specialist the answer I got was, this technology is too advanced for our website. WTF? Too advanced? That does not even make sense to me. I don't understand… if my school wants me to integrate technology why do they set me and my students up to fail? Does anybody feel my pain? Mel

Intergrating Technology in the classroom website

How to integrate tech. in the classroom

I often thing about this every time I design a lesson. I want to make sure that I can have my students create something or learn some new technology. I am always interested in how teachers successfully integrate it in their classrooms. My school administrators want for us teachers to integrate technology but they do not support it so much. I find that when I learn something cool that I want to share with my students or I want my student to use a different site or program I get so overwhelmed with everything that I constantly revert back to me old teaching methods. I am in hopes of finding a balance of my old teaching methods and the new way of teaching where technology is in the center of the learning. I found this website to be very helpful in giving ideas and tools in integrating technology in the classroom. If anyone has any ideas or thoughts I would love to read them. Enjoy, Mel
